Friday 15th May
Friday 15th became one of the favourite parts of our journey for most of us - although rather bleak the views were outstanding. We started from Once Brewed where we met with Paget and some rangers who asked if they could take a few pics of us for their magazine. We set off, with assistance. to cross the busy Military Road and followed Route 68 to Steel Rigg where we had our first view of 'The Wall' we stopped there for a photoshoot and then set off into the rugged countryside.
Steel Rigg
We left route 68 and followed the track through the fields down to Cawfield Quarry. The scenery was very wild and we had our first go over cattle grids - which we loved especially when at full speed!!! We also had to be very aware as there were sheep. lambs and cattle in the fields. Some of the team were a bit worried when one gate had a notice on saying 'Beware, Bull In Field' but I am pleased to say he did not appear 'specially as we were wearing our red raingear!

Out in the Wilds
The weather was deteriorating quickly and by the time we reached Cawfield Quarry was raining quite heavily. We met the support team at the quarry. Although some of us wanted to continue it was quickly decided to do as most sportspeople do and retire to the bar as rain stopped play. We quickly loaded up the truck and retired to a local hostelry for lunch before returning to the hotel. When we got back to the hotel we were handed an envelope which had been left for us from a fellow guest with a donation for our charity - thank you.
