2009 Walk Diary Monday 11th Tuesday 12th Wednesday 13th Thursday 14th Friday 15th Weekend

Monday 18th Tuesday 19th Wednesday 20th Thursday 21st Friday 22nd Saturday 23rd

Thursday 21st May

Thursday 21st we were all up early and sitting in the dining room with a laptop trying to hear the interview on BBC Radio Cumbria not very clear as there was a lot of noise in the room but listened later on 'listen again' and sounded quite good.

Day off today we have made such good time so everyone is being left to their own devices - a lot have gone sightseeing but Dave, Jackie, Keith and Kate decided to do a reccee of the last leg of the trip.  On the way called into The Greyhound to arrange for lunch there the next day and then visited Les (the volunteer ranger) at home.  Had a nice cuppa and spent a while chatting.  Then we set off to see what was coming up on the morrow!  Oh joy of joys we found three cattle grids - a big favourite with all the team.  Also a field with inquisitive cows and sheep! This leg is beautiful in yet another way as now we go through countryside and then by the side of the Solway - the views were stunning.

On the Solway Firth.....                                            Fantastic scenery

We went in and through Bowness to check out parking especially for the truck and found somewhere we thought might be possible. Back to the hotel for a relaxing cuppa in the sun and then dinner. While having our dinner a group of lady golfers staying at the hotel gave us an envelope containing a donation - thank you very much ladies and all those who gave to us while at the hotel.

We had all been enjoying the trip so much no-one wanted it to end so I had contacted someone re a new idea for a walk next year and received a very positive response from them - so watch this space for details later this year!
