Wednesday 13th May
Wednesday 13th weather again great and we started from Ovingham this time making for Corbridge. The journey this time took us through trails and then followed Route 72 (cycle trail) along mainly quiet country roads again through beautiful countryside. We came out at Styford Lodge, where we had originally intended to stop, to a main road down into Corbridge. A very fast 'B' road and we were unsure whether to go on it. We parked while a quick reccie was done by car. A very nice couple lived in the house we were parked in front of and they kindly offered us use of the facilities which some of us took advantage of. After much discussion it was decided as long as we had escorts in front and behind we could continue along the road to Corbridge and lots of people were waving and tooting us as we went along. We had a break in the car park there, most of the girls had gone to find a loo when the Police arrived!
Corbridge 'Hello Hello Hello!!'
This became one of the highlights of the day, me being interviewed by the police! This was because somebody had complained to the police about scooters on the road and that he had almost crashed into us. We explained to the policeman what we were doing and how we had travelled along the road with an escort and both escorts assured him there had been no near accident they were aware of and of the precautions we had taken. I am sure the person concerned would not be too happy to hear from then on for a part of our journey we had a police escort through Corbridge to Tyneside park in Hexham!!! A big thank you to the police involved for helping us out.
Once again we went further than anticipated and through Corbridge and Hexham to the Boatside pub at Warden. A lady came up to us while we were loading the scooters and said how pleased she was to see us as she had heard me on Chris Evans show. At the rate we were travelling we were well in front of our timetable and if the weather turned bad would be able to afford to sit out some time.
